Hey Gang – it is good to be back but I must thank my man Adso for doing a great job and holding the fort with some influential posts in between – I don’t know where I would be with out you man.
This post has been a couple of months in the making so it’s really not at all relevant anymore but I always have to talk about every album I enjoy or I develop Chlamydia – and I am sick of it killing fetus’ – that’s what a vacuum’s for.
Who Made Who – The Plot
I hold Who Made Who very close to my heart as their first album highly influenced where my music taste has ended up today. Because of this I was anticipating their new album ‘The Plot’ for a few years and the excitement really started to build at the start of the year with the hype around a couple of releases/remixes and then their unbelievable live show at The Zoo – See some footage below from my night.
They have noticeabley progressed since their first album yet not swayed away at all from their octive/disco/funk style. The Plot is a much more sophisticated arrangement which indicates the time which must’ve been spent producing such a great set of tracks. Where their first album was purely all about hooks and repetition with limited vocals The Plot shows that the boys from Denmark can step out of their comfort zone and start to present their humor in the English language to a further degree.
Who Made Who are able to use a guitar, drums and most importantly bass alone to produce some the most funky live dance music today, however with the further use of even more electronics and effects on The Plot they have truly slid into their rightful place amongst one of the best dance albums of this year.

I was just talking above about how Who Made Who really influenced my taste in music and I have just realized that there are two more groups in this post who also had a major influence that being Royksopp and Fischerspooner. Royksopp album is filled with it’s moments but also has some serious let downs. Lets drown in hedonism and live those moments below.

Well this album is one for the whole family. It has been one of my favorites for the last couple of weeks. Heard some hype around their single “Bruises” from triple J airplay and was expecting an indie pop delight which would soon turn stale. I was pleasantly surprised with “Does You Inspire You” as the first track Garbage dug much deeper and showed not only their pop elements but also the brilliance behind the composition and arrangements of the tracks. Some nice effects, guitars and most importantly – vocal hooks.

Well the album that all electro kids have been have been chewing their tongue for – Mr Tigahhh. Although I have suspicion’s that Tiga may not be any more then a DJ/Vocalist who makes a comfortable seat on real producers backs (e.g. Sir Dewaele 1 & 2) there is no doubting that this album will let the sadness off those molars. Why Tiga decides to put some of the stupidest lyrics I have ever heard in front of some of the nicest synths in all of Ghent I do not know, but after the first half of the album this is all forgotten and some seriously grinding quality takes over. I really want to thank you Tiga but I can’t help to look up at the god’s – Thank you Stephen and David.

The Juan Maclean – The Future Will Come
This fine piece of Disco Art will surely be hanging from my top album wall at the end of the year. I am starting to feel that everybody is talking about DFA these days with the rise of nu disco and my praise will be buried in repetition. So I will refrain from mentioning the label and King Murphatonic and simple talk solely about Juan Maclean.
As I begun to delve into the album visions of a heaven sprouted in my mind, this heaven being the chance to see all these sounds recreated live. I knew of Juan’s history in a band and by the sound of his production my hope was begging for a similar experience as LCD live. This hope soon turned to desire as I read this article http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1045 and for the first time realised that this could be one of the best live shows I ever see. This is my number 1 must see of this year and I may even be forced to MAKE it happen.
I cannot describe how good Happy House is but to even picture how great an extended version would be live is far beyond what our pathetic species can imagine. I put Happy House up in the same league as LCD’s Yeah (Crass Version) and Soulwax’s Another Excuse – Both of which had Sir Murphatonic splattered all over – and you thought I wouldn’t speak about him again.

My dearest Fischerspooner where have you been? And why would you come to Australia last year only to play a silly DJ set you silly silly boys. I forgive you and yes you can entertain me.
I am sure I have spoken about this before but their last album “Odyssey” changed my life and ears in the best possible way. Listening to the album as I write this I realise that I have not listened to it enough and this is mainly because of two things:
The amount of new albums I have got over the last couple of months
Reading a stupid review of it in Mixmag giving it 2 stars before I had heard it.
Fuck you Mixmag – go stick a P Diddy remix of Lady Ga Ga up your ass and try not to blow your load you sick little fuck.
Anyway this album is quality although the mixing and mastering behind it seems to be lacking slightly from their last. The sounds are still there, and this is a sound, which will forever live on in my heart. I promise to turn my 9 listens on Itunes up to 18 by next week.

Blackbelt Andersen – an interesting name you have there and quite the interesting music too. Intriguing I may call it, perhaps describing it as space disco will make me seem more intellectually “nu”. What would it be like if a star exploded nearby? Would it sound like Slayer raping your face?? No you creep – I am hoping that having the chance to watch the light of this magnificent event spreading across the sky before it tore our skin apart to be as much of an adventure as the sound of Blackbelt Andersen.

Well after that ghastly metaphor lets move onto something a little easier to understand – three bohemian Swedes singing about all sorts of things that all seem to sound like a joke – although it’s mostly not. I think I have been listening to so much distortion in the form of guitars and synths the last few years that when something else I enjoy comes around with out the noise my mind thanks me in the most beautiful way – pleasure.
No I am not going to actually talk about their music – that would be very alternative?
