I was told about this duo from Sydney by a friend called Susie who happened to see them play a small gig at Rosies a month or so ago. I immediately checked them out on myspace and was over whelmed at how great they instantly sounded as the track “Relativity” blasted through my headphones one early morning. My excitement built with anticipation throughout the song as I heard the first lyrics come in and realised that this band was attempting to use relativity as a metaphor for love and hitting it right on the spot. However the awe of the lyrics would have to wait as the pounding synthesized bass exploded in the first melody.
After listening to Relativity on repeat I thought I would give it a break and try the next track “Change”. With an ambient feel and slow melodic lyrics filling the intro, I thought for a second that the boys had gone soft and left the pounding kick drum and driving synths all to the theory of relativity – however I was soon proved wrong as the lyrics started and the letter L brought all the power back.

Grafton Primary – Change
All tracks on the EP are superbly produced with all sounds complementing each other perfectly – topped off with meaningful lyrics fitted tightly to the rhythm.
Look out for Grafton Primary – hopefully they will be visiting Brisbane again soon. Please, please do your self a favor and buy their 6 track EP from a good record store or online at Itunes. I won’t spoil any more tracks but they are all as good as each other and the EP also includes a Tommy Trash remix of Relativity which was featured on Electro House Sessions.
The Scientists of Modern Music
The next band I would like to ramble on about is The Scientist of Modern Music two kids out of Hobart who would not be any older then 20. I first heard these guys last year when Midnight Juggernauts played their track “Technology Illiterate” during Home and Hosed on Triple J. I am still yet to hear them live and unfortunately was unable to go to Round and Round last year where they featured.

These kids know how to use vocoders, synths and guitars. I believe their background comprises of Classical Piano and Rock Guitar, what could be a better combination to make thumping live electro!!
I had been hanging out for the release of their inaugural 7 Track EP so I could finally have wider access to a sound I had grown to love through only a couple of tracks. The biggest surprise when first listening to the EP was that Technology Illiterate would turn out not to be my favorite, with the first track EASY taking that title soon after the first few listens (it could just be because I played Technology Illirate to death, but you be the judge).

Their whole EP is quality dance music with suitable chord progressions, vocoders, running bass, euphoric break downs and the odd Guitar riff that will make you forget you’re even listening to dance music. I believe it will not be long before we see a lot more of these guys.
The last track I have posted Easy (Electric Ramjet Remix) is probably one of my favorite dance tracks of the moment – listen to the bass drop at 30 seconds into it and tell me that does not get you moving!! Electric Ramjet is actually Cal from the band and the boy can remix/produce!!! Don’t forget to buy their EP from Itunes or your local record store – you would be stupid if you didn’t. Enjoy.

seen these guys live many times, at falls a couple of times and at a couple of other gigs.
I just waited 8 days for their EP to arrive from the mainland as all copies of their EP in hobart were sold out
Can’t talk these guys up enough, their music is just the best, its that simple. Listen to their EP and you will understand what i’m blabbing on about!!!
